On April 7, 2023, a ceremony of handing over equipment to the Society of the Blind of Uzbekistan took place in Tashkent as part of the grant program “Grants of assistance to small-scale social projects to ensure human security”, at which the Japanese Ambassador to Takashi HATORI delivered a welcoming speech.
The project, signed in March 2022, provided a full set of equipment, including braille printers for producing books and teaching materials in Uzbek braille, as well as braille translation software (total grant amount: $91,283).
During his remarks, Ambassador HATORI noted that “in order for all people to live with dignity, Japan promotes the concept of “Ensuring Human Security” as the basis of national foreign policies, which is to promote the development of countries and society through the protection and strengthening of individual skills. Also, Japan attaches great importance to Investing in People, which supports the development of the country, and has been providing support in the field of education in Uzbekistan for many years. We hope that the provided equipment will be effectively used to expand the opportunities for quality education for the visually impaired.”
