The President met and talked with Andijan activists. At the meeting, he underscored that along with the economic growth, the improvement of livelihoods of the population, the electricity consumption is increasing day by day.
Demand for electricity in Andijan, Namangan and Ferghana provinces increased by 40%. Over the past 5 years, 14 power plants have been put into operation, and annual electricity generation has increased by an additional 16 billion kilowatt-hours.
However, this year, on abnormally cold winter days, the republic experienced a shortage of electricity in the amount of 3.1 billion kWh (1.1 billion kWh in the valley provinces). In particular, in Andijan - 384 million, Namangan - 288 million, Ferghana province - 441 million kWh.
On some days, the demand for electricity increased immediately by 30%, which led to numerous accidents. “Why didn’t responsible officials think about how to cover the deficit in their respective province, introduce green energy, save money?” - asked the head of state.
The President touched upon the steps in this direction on the example of Andijan, Namangan and Fergana provinces.
He pointed to the need to expedite the implementation of projects of large solar and wind power plant . This year, two 600-megawatt solar plants will be erected in Pap and Ferghana districts. A 20 MW coal-fired cogeneration project will also be implemented to provide guaranteed heat to 192 apartment buildings and 6 social facilities in New Andijan. This station, in addition to heat, produces 80 million kWh of electricity per year. Its 1st stage will be launched in December this year.
Solar panels with a capacity of 160 MW and 100 micro hydroelectric power plants will be built in the valley areas. By July 1, business will be involved and the construction of 41 micro-hydroelectric power stations in Andijan, 32 in Namangan and 27 in Fergana.
Renewable energy sources will also be installed at large enterprises. There are 1,408 such enterprises in the valley. In general, the transfer of large enterprises of the valley to 100% self-sufficiency in electricity needs should be a priority for provinceal khokims, the Ministry of Energy and industry leaders. Steps will be taken to raise $2 billion from international financial institutions to install solar panels in industrial plants and build small stations.
