President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of France Emmanuel Macron signed a Joint Statement on High-level Comprehensive Partnership Ties between the two countries.

The two leaders stressed that the Uzbekistan reforms were opening up positive prospects for Uzbekistan, and Uzbekistan’s commitment to good neighborly relations in Central Asia and the world contribute to the deepening of bilateral and multilateral partnership ties.

During the visit, the parties signed about 10 agreements on cooperation in the field of public service, the fight against corruption, education, research, civil aviation and heritage conservation.

The presidents expressed their readiness to hold political consultations "on matters of mutual interest, in particular, in the field of security and the economy."

The parties welcomed the development of cultural ties and the holding of exhibitions of the culture of Uzbekistan in Paris, which opened on November 22.

The heads of state reiterated their readiness to strengthen partnerships in the field of culture and heritage and continue work on the creation of a Franco-Uzbek cultural center in Tashkent.

In the field of education, the parties agreed to strengthen ties between educational institutions, as well as in the field of teacher training and the teaching of French. The parties expressed satisfaction with the holding of the second Franco-Uzbek academic forum, which will be held in Paris on November 27-28.

In the economic sphere, the presidents agreed to develop trade ties. The Action Plan for Agriculture will explore future areas of cooperation, they noted. The Uzbek side expressed its readiness to provide the necessary assistance to facilitate the entry of French investors into the country and simplify procedures.

The parties also agreed to advance cooperation in the field of tourism, in particular in the development of tourist facilities. The French side supported the proposal of Uzbekistan to organize the first European Union-Central Asia tourism forum in Khiva in 2023.

Uzbekistan and France reaffirmed their readiness to contribute to strengthening security, peace and stability at the global and regional levels and to strengthen coordination within the framework of the UN and the OSCE. They recalled their commitment to resolving conflicts through dialogue in full compliance with international law and the UN Charter.

In addition, the parties welcomed the development of relations between the European Union and Uzbekistan. The Presidents also expressed their common interest in helping to stabilize Afghanistan and regional security.
