On May 24-26, 2017, Turkish Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekci is set to visit Uzbekistan to attend Uzbekistan-Turkey Economic Council meeting.
Culture and Tourism Minister Nabi Avci also stated that he will visit Uzbekistan late May with a joint tourism work group meeting expected to be held during this visit.
According to the road map determined for the development of relations, it is envisaged that Turkish Airlines will increase the frequency of flights to Uzbek historical cities of Bukhara and Samarkand.
Enhanced ties are expected to be reflected in trade figures. The two-way trade turnover stood at around $1.2 billion in 2016. The figures for medium and long-term trade volume were set. In the first 1-2 years, it is possible to raise these figures to $5 billion dollars and in the long term to $10 billion.
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is expected to visit to Turkey on a state visit this year.
