On March 15, Deputy PM/Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov held a working meeting with Deputy PM of the Russian Federation Alexei Overchuk.
According to the government of the Russian Federation, the parties discussed topical issues of trade and economic cooperation, underscored the intensive development of interaction between Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation.
“We have done a great job together, the obvious result of which is the growth of two-way trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Russia. Last year we managed to increase the volume of two-way trade by 15.6%. Given the current pace, I am sure that the task set by the leaders of our countries to achieve a trade turnover of 10 billion US dollars is feasible,” stressed Oleksiy Overchuk.
He added that the Russian authorities highly commended the measures taken by the leadership of Uzbekistan to create comfortable conditions for Russian investors.
"Currently, over 2.1 thousand enterprises with Russian capital operate in Uzbekistan, the total volume of Russian investments in the economy of Uzbekistan is estimated at US $ 10 billion," the message says.
Alexey Overchuk and Sardor Umurzakov discussed the preparation of bilateral events at the highest level. Particular attention was paid to the upcoming holding of the second meeting of the joint commission at the level of the heads of government of Russia and Uzbekistan.
The parties confirmed their readiness for further constructive dialogue in all areas of interaction between the countries.
