Uzbekistan and Tatarstan plan to sign a new Cooperation Agreement. This became known after the talks of First Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan Ochilboy Ramatov with the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.

"The cooperation agreement between Uzbekistan and Tatarstan was signed in 1993, and work is underway to prepare a new document," the Tatarstan Presidency website said. 

Tatneft will be supplying tires, diesel fuel, jet fuel, motor oils, there are plans to set up a car testing ground and a KAMAZ service center in the Tashkent province. 

Tatarstan is also interested in expanding cooperation in the field of mechanical engineering, the supply of helicopters, petrochemicals and agricultural equipment to Uzbekistan. 

In 2017, the volume of two-way trade with Tatarstan grew by 80% to reach US$ 100 million, while in 2018, the figure grew by another 57% to top US $ 146 million. 

Today, inter-university cooperation is ongoing between Uzbekistan and Tatarstan. A representative office of the Kazan Federal University has opened at the Mirzo Ulugbek National University of Uzbekistan. 

With over 3 thousand Uzbek students studying at Tatarstan universities in. Rustam Minnikhanov noted that Tatarstan would be glad to receive more students from Uzbekistan.
