Phase One of the 1.2 Mt, $40 million Karakalpak Cement plant in Karauzyak district has been commissioned. The project will be implemented in three phases.
A $17 million manufacturing unit has been completed in the first phase, with over 200 jobs created, UzA said.
The phase two will be completed by the end of the year, which will see the production capacity double. The final phase will be completed in 2018 and will add another 700,000 tons of capacity.
A new technology, a vertical furnace will be used in the first two phases. Even more productive line, a rotary furnace will be introduced in the third phase.
