President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on June 21 signed the resolution "On measures to further support local exporting companies and boost foreign economic activity." The specialized foreign trade company UzAgroExport, established in 2016, shall be deprived ща monopoly in the export of fresh fruits and vegetables.
From July 1, all business entities shall be entitled to export fresh fruit and vegetables, grapes and melons on direct contracts under 100% advance payment terms.
According to the official commentary to the resolution, the analysis of activities in the field of fruit and vegetable exports revealed the existence of considerable untapped potential and bureaucratic obstacles in the export of fruits and vegetables.
The abolition of the monopoly is intended, along with the expansion of exports, to encourage farms to increase production of fruits and vegetables in demand on foreign markets and increase crop yields through more efficient use of land, including through repeated crops.
To ensure compliance of Uzbek products with the international standards, the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources was instructed to develop and approve measures within a month the international quarantine regulations into national regulatory documents.
The adopted document also resolves issues related to the numerous complaints from business entities on the existence of difficulties in obtaining of licenses, including delaying the registration of certificates of conformity. From now on, certification bodies will have to issue certificates of conformity for manufactured and imported goods within three business days.
