Delegation of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE/ODIHR) arrived in Uzbekistan today.
As Dunyo reported, according to the program of the visit, which will last until June 17, the delegation members will hold talks at the Central Election Commission, the Legislative Chamber, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other state bodies, as well as public organizations.
The main purpose of the visit is to present the final report of the ODIHR mission to observe the presidential elections in Uzbekistan, held on October 24, 2021.
Earlier, a permanent member of the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan, Gulnoza Rakhimova, spoke about cooperation with this organization and the purposes of the visit of her delegation.
“The final report is an important basis for further dialogue and effective cooperation with the OSCE/ODIHR in the field of elections. One of the main parts of the report are recommendations aimed at improving the legal framework and practice of future elections. They are intended for consideration by the bodies responsible for organizing elections, public authorities and administration, as well as political parties, the media, civil society and other interested parties,” she said.
