The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has been re-elected for a second term following elections held on Sunday. According to provisional data announced today by the chairman of the Central Election Commission, Zainiddin Nizamhodjaev, 80.1% of voters voted for Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a candidate from the Liberal Democratic Party. The CEC declared him as the president-elect.

Maqsuda Varisova from the People's Democratic Party received 6.6% of the votes, Alisher Qodirov from the Milliy Tiklanish party - 5.5%, Narzulla Oblomuradov from the Ecological Party - 4.1% and Bakhrom Abdukhalimov from the Adolat Social Democratic Party - 3.4%.

To this moment, all ballots have been counted, said the head of the Central Election Commission. The elections turnout was at 80.4% of registered voters (20,158,907 - the latest data). More than 421 thousand people took part in early voting.

The elections were held in real competition between candidates, in line with international standards and national legislation, Zainiddin Nizamhodjaev emphasized.

He added that there were no major violations during the voting, and studies are being carried out on "certain" messages on social networks.

Zainiddin Nizamhodjaev noted that the moving of the election date "from snowy and cold December" to warm October from this year was the right decision.

According to reports on social networks, members of UzLiDeP are preparing to celebrate Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s victory of at the Humo Arena palace.
