Today, at 11:40 AM the roof of power unit No. 4 of the Yangi-Angren Thermal Power Plant (TPP) took fire after the unit was shut down with an aim to eliminate leaks in the boiler, the Ministry of Energy said in a statement.
The plant personnel used primary fire extinguishing tools, with fire brigades later involved.
The fire was eliminated at 14:00, with no one injured, the statement added.
At present, the power unit is undergoing a repair, work is underway to eliminate the punch items and restore its operability. A special commission has been formed to investigate this situation.
At the moment, three power units with a total capacity of 580 MW are operating at the Yangi -Angren TPP.
The thermal power plant provides energy to the main industrial facilities and households in Tashkent province.
