Units of the Russian Armed Forces’ 201st Guards Military Base in Tajikistan have arrived in Uzbekistan to take part in the Hamkorlik-2026 (Cooperation) joint tactical exercises, TASS reported, citing the press service of Russia’s Central Military District.

The exercises will run from Oct 20 to 27 at the Termez training ground in Surkhandarya province, the report said.

Servicemen from Uzbekistan and Russia will jointly practice detecting and destroying simulated enemy groups in border areas. Reconnaissance and strike drones, ground-based robotic platforms and Mi-24 helicopters will be used.

The Russian troops covered more than 300 kilometers through the mountainous terrain of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, TASS reported. They brought BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, Ural trucks and specialized vehicles built on KamAZ chassis.

The two countries’ militaries held the Hamkorlik-2025 joint exercises last year. In the same year, the defense ministers of Uzbekistan and Russia met in Moscow and signed a military cooperation plan for 2026-2030.
