U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will lead a historic business delegation of more than 100 American companies to Samarkand, Uzbekistan in mid-October to advance the U.S.–Central Asia strategic partnership and strengthen bilateral diplomatic and commercial cooperation, the Special Envoy to South and Central Asia Sergio Gor announced.
During his visit, Secretary Rubio will participate in the C5+1 Ministerial alongside the foreign ministers of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The discussions will reportedly focus on deepening regional economic connectivity, enhancing energy security, and promoting collaborative solutions to shared regional priorities under the C5+1 framework.
Secretary Rubio will meet with Uzbekistani leadership and regional counterparts to discuss expanding trade, fostering private-sector investment, and supporting economic modernization across Central Asia.
