A package of agreements was signed in Tashkent following the 15th session of the Uzbekistan–Azerbaijan Intergovernmental Commission and the first meeting of the Business Council. Spot reported this based on information from the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade.

The documents were signed by Uzbekistan's Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov and Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov. That same day, Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted the head of the Azerbaijani delegation and praised the pace of economic cooperation between the two countries. Mutual trade turnover was noted to have grown 15 percent in 2025, and by nearly 40 percent since the start of this year.

The two sides also agreed on a list of joint projects to be deployed within the framework of industrial cooperation. These include developing the Karakalpak, Terenkuduk, Baiterek, Kulboy, Birkoriy, and Kharoy oil and gas investment blocks; building a Ritz-Carlton hotel and residences in Tashkent; establishing the Sea Breeze Uzbekistan tourist complex in Chorvoq; constructing residential complexes in Tashkent and "New Tashkent"; as well as creating an "Azerbaijan" park in Uzbekistan and an "Uzbekistan" park in Baku.

Further planned areas of cooperation include setting up a cotton-textile cluster, building dry construction mix and gypsum board plants in Kashkadarya province, expanding automobile manufacturing, and developing the dairy industry and jewelry production.

Special attention was also given at the meeting to boosting mutual trade. Trade turnover between the two countries grew by almost 40 percent in January–May, after reaching $307.2 million by the end of 2025. The two sides agreed to develop a dedicated program — spelling out specific goods, timelines, and responsible parties — aimed at pushing that figure up to $1 billion.

Cooperation projects in development, energy, geology, logistics, textiles, and tourism were also discussed, alongside new initiatives in pharmaceuticals, electrical engineering, the food industry, and construction materials manufacturing.

The sides also agreed to hold the fourth Uzbekistan–Azerbaijan Interregional Forum in August and approve a schedule for reciprocal visits by regional leaders for 2026–2027. The meeting concluded with the signing of the MoM of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission.
