A Turkish delegation led by Deputy Minister of Trade Mustafa Tuzcu has arrived in Uzbekistan on an official visit. As part of the visit, a working group session was convened to discuss the Preferential Trade Agreement between Uzbekistan and Türkiye.
The meeting was co-chaired by Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, Akram Aliyev, and his Turkish counterpart, Mustafa Tuzcu. The two sides focused on expanding the list of commodities covered under the preferential trade framework, operating on the principle of strict parity.
Following the conclusion of this third round of negotiations, the parties successfully reached a mutual understanding. The session wrapped up with the signing of an official protocol solidifying the agreements to incorporate additional product categories into the framework.
According to officials, these new provisions will significantly stimulate trade relations between Uzbekistan and Türkiye, accelerate the volume of export-import shipments, and pave the way to hit a bilateral trade turnover milestone of $5 billion.
By comparison, bilateral foreign trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Türkiye had reached $2.6 billion as of October 2025. Furthermore, foreign trade conducted by authorized economic operators has doubled over the past five years alone, climbing steadily from $1.3 billion in 2020 to $2.7 billion by 2024.
