The celebrated historical novel The Treasure of Ulughbek by Odil Yoqubov, a beloved writer, has been published in English and presented to readers worldwide.
This publication serves as a cultural milestone ahead of the anniversary celebrations planned to honor the centenary of the author’s birth, the Uzbekistan National News Agency (UzA) reported.
The translation project was initiated under a centenary initiative, moving forward with the blessings and formal consent of the author's widow, Maryam Shariatullaeva (Yoqubova), a recipient of the Order of Friendship (Do'stlik).
The scholarly and literary translation process was spearheaded by Abdullajon Ro‘ziev, a doctoral researcher at the Andijan State University of Foreign Languages.
With backing from university leadership, the project grew into an international collaboration. American editors Matthew Pierro, a graduate of the University of North Carolina, and Alon Schneidman actively participated in refining the text to ensure literary quality.
Through this successful collaboration, the novel has been translated into English and officially published both in Uzbekistan and on Amazon.
Depicting the life of Mirzo Ulughbek, his scientific and educational legacy, and his profound impact as a historical figure, the novel will now allow international readers to connect deeply with a vital chapter of Uzbekistan’s history, cultural identity, and literary heritage.
Adhering to modern publishing standards, the book has been released in hardcover, paperback, and ebook formats. It is now accessible to a global audience worldwide via the Amazon platform.
The Treasure of Ulughbek has already been translated into nearly fifty languages. Looking ahead, plans are already underway to translate and publish Odil Yoqubov’s other major historical novel, The Ancient World, into English next year.
