Uzbekistan's Health Ministry has undergone a sweeping leadership shake-up, with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev appointing a new minister and replacing nearly all of the ministry's deputy ministers. The changes were announced by presidential press secretary Sherzod Asadov.

Eldor Adilov has been named the new Health Minister. A former head of a sector within the Department of Legal Expertise and Comprehensive Analysis at the Presidential Administration, Adilov's appointment was confirmed by the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis — the country's parliament — earlier the same day.

He succeeds Asilbek Khudayarov, who has been relieved of his post following what authorities described as a transfer to another position. Khudayarov had led the ministry since November 2024, having previously served as acting minister from January of that year and as first deputy head of the Social Development Department at the Presidential Administration.

The reshuffle extends deep into the ministry's senior ranks. Otabek Imamov has been appointed first deputy minister, while four new deputy ministers have also been named: Jaloliddin Asamutdinov, who will oversee compliance and internal anti-corruption control; Adkham Khudaykulov; Sherzod Mukhamedov; and Ilkhomjon Umurzakov, who previously served as deputy economy and finance minister and headed the Public-Private Partnership Development Department at the Economy and Finance Ministry.

Olim Omonov is the only deputy minister to have retained his position. Among those departing are former first deputy minister Alisher Boboyev and deputy ministers Elmira Basitkhanova and Farkhodjon Tashpulatov.

Abdulla Azizov will continue in his role as head of the Agency for Developing the Medical and Pharmaceutical Sector under the Health Ministry.
