Uzbekistan will update its defense and security documents to address new challenges, the president Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced at an expanded meeting of the Security Council dedicated to strengthening the country's military security and defense on Tuesday.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the need to revise the 2018 Defense Doctrine and the 1997 National Security Concept, taking into account "the rapidly changing nature and scale of modern risks and threats, and the major challenges facing the defense and security sectors."
According to him, the new Defense Doctrine should ensure that Uzbekistan maintains its non-membership status in any military blocs, relies on multilateral diplomacy, and align its strategy based on high technology, military independence, and regional stability.
Overall, the new doctrine should serve as the basis for the technological modernization of the army and the implementation of advanced military solutions, he stressed.
