The goal of security cooperation among Central Asian countries is to develop a common capacity to counter challenges and threats. This is what the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated in his article, "Central Asia on the Threshold of a New Era." The article was published ahead of the Seventh Central Asia Summit, which will take place in Tashkent on November 16.
"Regular meetings of Security Council Secretaries, chiefs of intelligence agencies, defense ministries, and law enforcement bodies should continue".
“The principle of indivisibility of security must remain fundamental. Meanwhile, regional cooperation must seamlessly integrate with existing international mechanisms, building its own potential to reinforce stability and counter a wide range of security threats to countries and the region as a whole."
"In an era of global uncertainty, good-neighborliness, unity, and mutual support are Central Asia's main resource. Common security challenges and development issues, which would be difficult for the countries of the region to address alone, can be successfully addressed through joint efforts."
"Strengthening trust and partnership is in the interests of millions of people who associate their future with the peace, stability, and development of our common homeland—Central Asia."
“Enhancing regional resilience is impossible without addressing issues related to Afghanistan.”
"This country is not a periphery, but a natural part of our shared region. The sustainability of peace and stability throughout Central Asia largely depends on the reconstruction and development of Afghanistan".
"The long-suffering people of Afghanistan continue to live in a profound humanitarian crisis. In this regard, the countries of the region recognize the need for Afghanistan's consistent engagement in regional and international processes, which will contribute to the country's development and strengthen stability in our vast region”.
“The Trans-Afghan Railway project, which is intended to connect the Central and South Asia, is of key importance. The implementation of this project will create new opportunities for trade, investment, and transport connectivity, and will also serve as the foundation for Afghanistan's economic revival."
“Work continues to provide humanitarian and educational support to the Afghan people, develop energy cooperation, and train specialists for key economic sectors.”
"Afghanistan must become part of a common space of peace and security, cooperation, and development, which meets the interests of all countries in the region and contributes to the formation of a sustainable belt of stability on the southern borders of Central Asia," the Uzbek president emphasized.
