The Ministry of Ecology filed a draft Additional measures to prevent air pollution and mitigate the effects of climate change in the city of Tashkent and the Tashkent province Resolution to the government for review, the press service of the Ministry said.
The draft reportedly includes a set of steps aimed at reducing the negative impact on the atmosphere and the gradual transition of enterprises to more ecofriendly technologies:
- install dust and gas cleaning equipment at industrial enterprises and greenhouses in the province;
- replace sub-standard greenhouse heating boilers with modern energy-efficient and ecofriendly systems;
- switch greenhouses and industrial facilities to alternative energy sources, halting the use of coal;
- provide financial incentives to enterprises for production modernization – implementing emission control systems, local treatment facilities, automatic air monitoring and control stations, including through grant mechanisms.
The Ministry added that the implementation of these steps would significantly reduce the volume of polluting emissions, increase environmental safety, and create more comfortable living conditions for residents of the capital and the Tashkent province.
