Two men have been convicted in Samarkand city of murdering their younger brother, the Supreme Court’s spokesman Aziz Abidov reported.

The investigation found that the perpetrators were attempting to "cure" their 29-year-old brother of a gambling addiction. They tied him to a tree and would struck him several times with electrical wires, severely injuring him. The man died after being carried into the house.

The older brother was found guilty under Forcible, unlawful deprivation of liberty charge and Intentional, grievous bodily harm charge of the Criminal Code and has been sentenced to eight years and six months in prison. The second brother received a sentence of six years and six months in prison.
