Delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Olimjon Abdullayev held a meeting with the Swedish Minister of Migration Johan Forssell in Stockholm Sunday.
During the talks, the parties discussed the ways to develop cooperation between Uzbekistan and Sweden in the area of migration.
Johan Forssell underscored that reforms aimed at encouraging legal migration in Uzbekistan were creating broad opportunities for establishing systematic cooperation with Sweden in this area. To this end, the Swedish minister expressed readiness to complete the negotiations on the draft Intergovernmental Migration and Mobility Treaty.
The parties pointed the need to establish long-term cooperation in this area. In particular, they agreed to further strengthen ties by financing projects aimed at encouraging legal migration, protecting the rights and interests of labor migrants, and strengthening the potential of Uzbek migration services.
