The stances of Uzbekistan and the United States on a number of regional and global issues are getting increasingly aligned, , the presidential adviser on foreign policy Abdulaziz Kamilov told in Davra podcast on the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel Wednesday.
"One thing needs to be noted: what are our interests in America? First of all, the US GDP is the largest in the world, reaching $29-30 trillion. The second is the distant $18 trillion, so comparisons are simply impossible," Kamilov said.
He emphasized that the US remains the most technologically advanced country in the world and possesses enormous military power, and also underscored the convergence of the two countries' political stances.
"Today, President Trump's views and those of our leadership, our relations and stances on regional and international issues, are getting increasingly similar," he noted.
Kamilov cited President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's stance on the situation in Gaza as an example.
"The esteemed president very urgently raised the issue of the events unfolding in Gaza. He proposed the need to find a solution and end this confrontation and violence. Indeed, as other states have noted, outright genocide is taking place there," he said.
According to the former Foreign Minister, US President Donald Trump recently put forward a new initiative aimed at ending the violence in the region. The plan to end the war in Gaza includes 20 items and calls for the release of all Israeli hostages, the withdrawal of Israeli troops, an amnesty for Hamas members if they leave the Strip, the deployment of international forces, and the establishment of an external administration.
"The President of the United States put forward a new initiative two or three days ago. Personally, I have worked in the Middle East for many years and believe this initiative is realistic," he noted.
The presidential adviser added that the initiative was supported by the leaders of major Arab countries and expressed confidence that further development of the peace process would bring Tashkent and Washington's stances even closer together.
"If this process continues and peace is achieved, our president's stance and attitude will become even closer to that of the United States. Therefore, we are developing cooperation not only in business but also in other areas," Kamilov emphasized.
On October 9, US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas had reached an agreement on the first stage of a peace settlement. According to Sky News Arabia sources, an agreement was reached on a complete ceasefire, with a gradual withdrawal of the Israeli army from 70% of the Gaza Strip and the simultaneous release of prisoners.
The President Shavkat Mirziyoyev paid a working visit to the United States from September 20-24 to attend the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, where he held a series of meetings and negotiated agreements with the United States worth over $105 billion. One of the key events was the meeting with US President Donald Trump, who noted the scale of the agreements reached. Abdulaziz Kamilov noted that the talks between Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Donald Trump have upgraded the relations between Uzbekistan and the United States to a level of stability and predictability.
Furthermore, Mirziyoyev addressed the UN General Assembly, where he emphasized the organization's role in addressing global challenges, presented the reforms of the "New Uzbekistan," and called for stronger international cooperation and peace.
