Javokhir Orifjonov, 32, was sentenced for using forged documents to pose as an employee of the State Security Service (SSS) and the Presidential Administration for personal interest in Tashkent, the press service of the Tashkent city police department said.
The man was detained after traffic police officers stopped his GM Lacetti. The driver identified himself as an SSS officer and showed his ID. He also made a phone call to a supposedly high-ranking acquaintance, who demanded the traffic police officer to release him.
After verifying the man's identity, law enforcement officers determined that the ID was fake and that he had no affiliation with the SSS.
The investigation revealed that the man repeatedly posed as an employee of the Presidential Administration, law enforcement agencies, and various ministries. He had several forged IDs.
The court found the man guilty under the Production or forgery of documents, stamps, seals, or forms, their sale or use, committed repeatedly or by a dangerous recidivist, by prior conspiracy by a group of persons charge, and Use of a knowingly forged document charge of the Criminal Code. In accordance with Article 59 (Imposition of a sentence for the commission of multiple crimes), the man was sentenced to 3.5-year imprisonment in a penal colony.
