Uzbekistan and the United States vowed to expand cooperation and implement new energy projects. The Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov told Uzbekistan 24 in an interview.
According to him, Uzbekistan's business partners in the US are Air Products, General Electric, Schlumberger, Baker Hughes, and others.
"Considering the United States' financial and technological capabilities, we are indeed upgrading the bilateral cooperation in the energy sector to a new level," the minister underscored.
He added that Air Products' leadership had expressed their readiness for new investments and the exploration of additional areas of cooperation.
The minister also emphasized that agreements had been reached on the modernization of gas transportation infrastructure.
"We agreed to replace gas units at compressor stations and well compressor stations with electric drives and install electric motors. The US Eximbank has shown interest in the project financing," he said.
"If we look at figures specifically, replacing units at compressor stations alone is estimated at over $800 million. And that's just one area," the minister said.
The US Exim Bank has expressed its readiness to open a $852 million credit line.
Furthermore, deals have been signed with Schlumberger and Baker Hughes to implement new drilling technologies.
Uzbekneftegaz signed a memorandum with Gulf to build a network of gas filling stations across Uzbekistan worth approximately $100 million.
Mirzamakhmudov underscored that future projects involving Air Products, including coal gasification, syngas production, and the production of ammonia, methanol, and other value-added products, are estimated at $3-4 billion.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, at a meeting with US big businesses, stated that he personally guarantees the success of their business in Uzbekistan. To support investor projects, the Ministry of Investments has established the position of Deputy Minister in charge of US Affairs. Mirziyoyev identified four priority areas for the partnership.
The President of Uzbekistan and US Presidential Special Envoy Sergio Gora discussed expanding cooperation and projects worth over $100 billion. Plans are underway to leverage the US Exim Bank and the DFC Fund and to set up a joint Coordination Committee to expedite projects implementation.
