The Tashkent Subway’s administration announced the imminent completion of "preventive maintenance" on the 30th Anniversary of Uzbekistan's Independence over-the-ground circle line.

The line, consisting of 14 stations, was closed completely on August 2. A partial closure began on June 8.

The announcement added that subway trains would operate in a test mode without passengers after the line's reopening.

As reported earlier that tracks had been removed from the line and would be returned after the necessary maintenance. The subway administration did not elaborate on the cause. The prosecutor's office reported the discovery of "a number of deficiencies and errors."

Construction of the circle line began in 2017. It partially follows the route of the former tram line. A commuter train was originally planned. The first phase of seven stations was completed in September 2020. The remaining five stations were commissioned in April 2023. All stations opened without names, with only numerical designations. The government approved their names in August 2023. The line's final two stations, Kipchoq and Turon, opened in March 2024.
