Uzbekistan produced 3.53 BCM of natural gas in August, the National Statistics Committee said in a report. This represents a 6.6% (252 million cubic meters) decrease compared to August last year. After stabilizing in March and April (up by 0.18% and 1.05%), gas production has also again declined, accelerating over the past three months.
Year-to-date (January-August), production volumes totaled 28.9 BCM, a 3.5%, or 1.03 BCM, decrease compared to the first eight months of last year. It has dropped by 11.4 BCM compared to the same period in 2019 (40.3 BCM).
70-80% of power in Uzbekistan is generated by burning gas, although this fuel's ratio in generation is gradually declining.
Total power production in the first eight months of the year increased by 3.2% (1.76 billion kWh) compared to January-August last year, reaching 56.4 billion kWh.
Month-on-month, generation in August increased by 4%, reaching 7 billion kWh.
Power production at large energy supply companies, most of which gas-powered (as well as coal and hydroelectric power plants), decreased by 15.3% from January-August, reaching 41.1 billion kWh.
These losses are offset by power generation at small enterprises (including solar and wind power plants) -15.2 billion kWh, which is 3.6 times more than in January-August 2024.
The ratio of green energy in generation reached 22%.
Monthly oil production in August decreased to 55,700 tons (down 7.6%, or 4,600 tons, compared to August 2024).
Over the first eight months, oil production fell to 434,500 tons (-10.4%).
In August, 103,300 tons of motor gasoline were produced, down 3% compared to August 2024.
In the eight-month comparison, the decline continued, reaching 770,300 tons (-14%, or 125,700 tons).
During the month, diesel production increased to 112,900 tons (+30.1% compared to August last year). Compared to January-August 2024 (year-on-year), it increased by 11.3%, reaching 785,800 tons.
However, diesel production has been declining since April (143.3 thousand tons).
Monthly coal production decreased slightly to 833.2 thousand tons (-6.2%). However, since the beginning of the year, production has increased by 7.5% to 4.7 million tons.
