Payariq district criminal court issued verdict against K.A., 44, a nurse in the maternity ward of the Payariq district central hospital. On April 12, 2025, she fraudulently abducted and took away the 3-day-old baby of the mentally ill Z.Kh. from the maternity ward. She also took away the woman's civil passport and the child's birth certificate.
Then, in the Minlo car she took the child to the house of F.B., a resident of the Guzal neighborhood of the district, and sold the baby for 5 million soums and 100 US dollars. She spent the money for his own personal needs. The Payariq District police department conducted a pre-investigation probe into the case, and the child was transferred to the district maternity hospital.
By the verdict of the Payariq District Court on August 11, 2025, K.A. was found guilty of committing a crime under Human Trafficking charge. She was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment with a 2-year deprivation of the right to hold official and materially responsible positions in the healthcare system. The court also ruled that the Minlo car should be transferred to the state as a weapon of crime.
By the ruling of the appellate instance of the Samarkand Regional Court on Criminal Cases dated September 23, 2025, the part of the initial court verdict on the transfer of the Minlo car to the state as a weapon of crime was canceled and the car was left in the possession of K.A.
