The Deputy Foreign Minister Olim Abdullaev as part of his travel to South Korea held a meeting with Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Korea, Commissioner of the Korean Immigration Service Kim Jong-Do.
According to the Foreign Ministry, during the meeting, the parties discussed the bilateral cooperation, including the ways to further improve the social protection of Uzbek migrant workers, mutual recognition of qualifications and development of vocational training, reducing illegal migration, as well as combating human trafficking and crime.
An agreement was reached following the talks to re-add Uzbekistan to the Republic of Korea’s seasonal labor (E-8) program.
The parties also decided to establish a working group to hold regular video conference calls in order to combat illegal migration, create conditions for labor migrants, and deepen cooperation.
