The Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov met with the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York on Wednesday, the Uzbek Foreign Minister said in a statement.
They discussed the bilateral ties, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, education, and cultural exchange, and also touched on key aspects of cooperation in multilateral formats within international organizations.
"The parties reiterated the reciprocal commitment of Uzbekistan and Ukraine to deepen dialogue, strengthen partnership, and develop new opportunities for the benefit of our peoples," Saidov said.
Andriy Sybiha noted that the parties had agreed to resume political dialogue and expand bilateral and multilateral cooperation in various areas.
Ukraine is committed to developing relations with Uzbekistan and strengthening ties with Central Asia, he added.
The last political consultations between the foreign ministries took place in May 2021.
The previous meeting between the foreign ministers of Uzbekistan and Ukraine took place on October 11, 2013, when Abdulaziz Kamilov and Leonid Kozhara held those positions.
According to the National Statistics Committee, the decline in trade between Uzbekistan and Ukraine, which began in 2022, halted in the first half of 2025, and started growing again.
