The US President’s Special Envoy for Global Partnerships, Paolo Zampolli, who is in Uzbekistan, called Shavkat Mirziyoyev a President of Peace, stressing his efforts to unite the Central Asian region. Earlier on Thursday, he held talks with Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Paolo Zampolli underscored that the United States and Uzbekistan were global partners. Following the talks, speaking the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel he said: "There is a mutual desire to cooperate, both countries want to be closer. And this is the message that I will convey to Washington to say that we have very good partners here. There are many partnerships that Mr. President supports. This is important for both of our countries in the long term."
The Special Envoy pointed to the importance of Uzbekistan and the Central Asian region as a whole in terms of global politics.
"The region is getting a truly special significance, especially now that peace has been achieved between Azerbaijan and Armenia. We view the Central Asian region as extremely important, thanks to the leadership of your President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who is an outstanding leader, a pillar of stability, a President of Peace, like President Trump,” he added.
The first meeting of the Expanded Dialogue of Strategic Partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States will take place in the fall.
According to the press service of the US Embassy in Tashkent, Paolo Zampolli attended the ceremony celebrating Uzbekistan’s Independence Day on Friday, where Shavkat Mirziyoyev delivered an address.
As part of the visit, the Special Envoy Paolo Zampolli also joined the U.S. Ambassador Jonathan Henick at the grand opening of the American Corner Tashkent, an extraordinary new hub to learn about the United States and American values Friday. Special Envoy Zampolli also met with Uzbekistan’s Olympic medalists and welcomed Uzbekistan’s National Football Team to the United States for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“We are thrilled that the United States will be represented in Uzbekistan’s Independence Day festivities in Tashkent this year at the highest level ever,” said Ambassador Jonathan Henick. “Special Envoy Zampolli’s visit reaffirms the enduring truth: the United States stands strong with Uzbekistan as a reliable partner, committed to mutual respect, prosperity, and a successful future,” the US Embassy concluded.
