Ecotourism complex is planned to be erected on the shore of the South Surkhan reservoir in Kumkurgan district, the press service of the governor’s office of Surkhandarya province said.

The project presentation, in which was present the province governor Ulugbek Kosimov, said that the complex woould be located on ​​15.7 hectares, with provisional cost estimates at 140 billion soums, or $11 million.

Reportedly, the project promised to preserve the natural environment, to create new green areas, roads and infrastructure that meet environmental standards, as well as to set up ofa wastewater treatment system.

According to UzA, the ecotourism complex will host cottages, swimming pools, a parking lot, shops, catering and consumer services, with sports and children's playgrounds, pedestrian paths will be built, and fishing to be erected.

Commissioned 58 years ago the 65 sqm reservoir is located at an altitude of 408 m above sea level, and has a volume is 800 million cubic meters.

The project implementation timelines were not disclosed, but reportedly Ulugbek Kosimov gave directives to commence work as soon as possible.

It was reported in the beginning of summer that a 913 billion-soum ($70 million) Sangardak tourist center project was launched in Sariasia district of the province. The project includes a cable car, zipline, hotels, guest houses, restaurants and retail outlets.
