Today, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke to the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi in a telephone conversation. At the beginning of the conversation, Shavkat Mirziyoyev cordially congratulated the Prime Minister and the friendly people of India on the upcoming national holiday - Independence Day of India, sincerely wishing peace, well-being and prosperity.

The parties discussed the ways to further deepen the Uzbek-Indian strategic partnership ties and multifaceted bilateral cooperation .

Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed that, in accordance with the agreements, practical cooperation is developing dynamically, active and fruitful contacts at various levels continue.

The two-way trade has grown by 60 percent year-to-date, with about 40 new joint ventures and cooperation projects launched. The portfolio of projects with major Indian companies has reached two billion dollars. Four branches of Indian universities are also successfully operating in Uzbekistan.

The two leaders paid special attention to the promotion and implementation of cooperation projects in such areas as the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, digital economy, energy, mining, agriculture, construction, tourism and others.

They also discussed the developing effective transport and transit routes within the North-South corridor and emphasized importance of effectively holding the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission in Tashkent.

The President of Uzbekistan and the Prime Minister of India also exchanged views on the regional agenda and reviewed the schedule of upcoming high-level events.
