Officers of the Tashkent Police Department identified 1,631 people on streets and in public places who had items that could be used as blades, the press service of the Department said.
The stop and checks were conducted as part of the 21-day Blade anti-knife campaign in July, seizing 1,715 items from these individuals, including 1,614 knives, 17 brass knuckles, 19 bats, 7 pneumatic weapons, 2 stun guns and 56 other types.
"The identified and seized items indicate to the undoubted prevention of many potential crimes and offenses," the Department added.
The department stressed that illegal carrying of bladed weapons or items that can be used as blades entails a fine of 1 to 5 BCUs, (1 BCU = 415k soums) as well as the application of other penalties.
