In January-June 2025, the total number of aliens entering Uzbekistan for business purposes increased by 3.4 times compared to the same period last year, reaching 223.6 thousand people, the National Statistics Committee said.
Over the six months, the highest number of business travels to Uzbekistan were made by nationals of Afghanistan - 207.5 thousand people. Earlier, the agency reported that1,569 Afghan nationals traveled to Uzbekistan in H1 of 2024, marking a 132 times increase over the year.
Afghanistan was followed by Tajikistan - 12.2 thousand (1.8 times less than a year earlier) and Turkmenistan - 1,642 thousand (23 times less).
In August last year, the Termez International Trade Center was inaugurated in Surkhandarya province of Uzbekistan on the border with Afghanistan. Duty-free trade regime is valid on its 260k sqm territory. A four-star hotel with 300 beds, a medical facility, a 15-day visa-free for business executives working in the center have also been built here. The center also allows accepting US dollars, euros, rubles and yuan as payment.
In the Surkhandarya province on the Uzbek-Afghan border, there is also an international transport and logistics hub Termez Cargo Center for the provision of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.
