The government plans to build a new road between Tashkent and Charvak, the Transport Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov told the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel.
After presenting the projects to the president, he spoke about plans to improve transport accessibility to the Charvak-Chimgan recreational zone, which covers the Tashkent and Syrdarya provinces.
“In recent years, significant investments have been made to the area, the tourist zone is booming. However, the existing road has gotten very overloaded with frequent traffic jams. At the president’s initiative, a decision was made to build a new highway in this direction,” he said.
According to the minister, the concept has already been presented, and the work will be carried out on a competitive basis, in partnership with leading companies and within the framework of the public-private partnership mechanism.
We will launch the new Tashkent-Charvak highway project without affecting the existing route, the concluded.
The Chairman of the Committee on Automobile Roads under the Ministry of Transport Jamshid Tursunov said in September that last year on proposals to reconstruct the section of the highway between Bektemir (Tashkent) and Charvak and turn it into a toll road. According to him, the toll road should have a free alternative.
Earlier, the Ministry of Economy and Finance reported on negotiations with the Turkish company Onur Group regarding the reconstruction of 6-77 km of the 4P12 Bektemir-Chirchik-Gazalkent-Chorbog highway section on the basis of a public-private partnership.
