Traffic accident involving 10 vehicles occurred on Choshtepa street in the Tashkent’s Yangihayot district on the afternoon of August 1, the Road Safety Department said.
According to the chief of the road patrol service brigade, Major Rakhmatjon Bakhtiyorov, the driver of the Iveco truck, who left Kokand early in the morning at 3:00 am and without resting after unloading at the Jami market, was heading towards the Tashkent province. Due to fatigue, he fell asleep at the wheel and, having lost control, crashed into cars stopped at a red light.
Nine cars were damaged in the collision - a GM Captiva, two GM Lacetti, a GM Spark, a GM Onix, a GM Malibu, a GM Cobalt, a Hyundai and a GM Tracker, as well as the truck itself.
There were no casualties in the accident. The Tashkent City Police Department is reportedly conducting an investigation.
