Major fire broke out in Sherabad district of Surkhandarya province on the territory of the Surkhan state reserve, the press service of the Emergency Situations Ministry said.
It took more than eight hours for firefighters to tackle the fire.
A message about a fire in dry vegetation area was received on 112 on July 23 at 15:52. The fire broke out on the territory of the Kizilolma neighbourhood. According to the provincial administration, the fire initially engulfed 3 hectares.
The fire was localized only by 22:25, and completely extinguished by 00:35.
35 employees of the provincial emergency department and 25 workers from the Sherabad district emergency department were involved in extinguishing the fire. In addition, 80 employees of emergency departments from the Kizirik, Bandikhan, Angor, Muzrabad and Termez districts participated in extinguishing the fire.
An additional 10 forestry workers, as well as 100 servicemen from the Defense Forces and Border Troops were involved.
There have been no reports of casualties so far.
Another wildfire broke out today in Tashkent province. At 11:16, the emergency department received a report of a fire in dry grass and bushes on an area of about 2 hectares in the mountainous area of the Khodjikent neighbourhood in Bostanlyk district.
Fire and rescue teams arrived at the scene. The fire was tackled at 12:30, and there have been no reports of the fire being extinguished yet.
