Today, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev familiarized himself with a presentation on digital technologies, AI and telecommunications, the presidential press service said.

The presentation showcased that the number of residents of the IT Park had exceeded 2,800, with the number of foreign-invested companies having reached 752.

Over the past five years, the sector's exports have increased from 170 million to almost 1 billion dollars. Internet speed has increased 7 times, mobile Internet - 4.5 times. Last year, startups attracted 70 million dollars in venture investments.

Reportedly, Uzbekistan climbed 12 positions and joined the top 100 of the global startup ecosystem ranking,. The country also moved up 17 positions in the international Artificial Intelligence Readiness Index, topping the ranking in Central Asia.

The following goals have been set for the next year: digitalization of 70% of governmental services, raising the volume of IT services to 100 trillion soums. It is also planned to improve the country’s ranking to at least 55th place in the Electronic Government Development Index (63rd place in 2024).

Projects and proposals were discussed during the presentation.

To date, 760 types of governmental services have been digitalized. Last year, 10 million individuals used digital services.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that it was big time to shift on to the next level - Digital Government. He noted that first of all, it is necessary to start with the areas most in demand among the public: education, healthcare, construction and utilities.

In October 2024, a AI development strategy 2030 was adopted, with $ 50 million provided for the development of the relevant infrastructure. The goal is to create a national model of AI and train 1 million specialists.

The Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov reported on the stages of achieving this objective and measures to improve the infrastructure.

“Thanks to the conditions and benefits in Uzbekistan, expatriates are showing interest in working in our country. In this regard, it was emphasized that it is important to create an attractive environment in each province and actively attract foreign companies.

Earlier this year, the government of Uzbekistan recently announced plans to develop a national model of AI. This year, a national code of ethics in the field of AI is expected to be approved. In addition, venture financing in the IT sector is planned to be expanded to $ 1 billion. 100 billion soums will be allocated for schoolchildren's startup ideas.
