Salim Abduvaliev, aka Salimboy, sentenced to 6 years in prison in March 2024, has been released from prison due to health reasons. 

The arrest of Salim Abduvaliev was reported in December 2023. This happened as part of the major crqackdown on street gangs and crime groups across Uzbekistan.

In March 2024, the court found Salim Abduvaliev guilty under Illegal trafficking in firearms, ammunition, main parts of firearms, explosives, blasting agents or explosive devices, committed repeatedly or by a dangerous recidivist charge, and sentenced him to 6-year imprisonment in a general colony.

In August last year, Kyrgyzstan put Salim Abduvaliev on the Interpol’s Wanted List.

Before being sentenced Salim Abduvaliev, 74, retired, had no criminal record and has been serving as the deputy chairman of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan and head of the Wrestling Association since January 2017. For his contribution to sports activities, he was awarded the Dustlik (Friendship) Order in 2015, and in 2021 he was awarded the title of Honored Sports Coach.
