The Government issued Measures to further improve control over the handling of waste, certain types of hazardous products and chemical substances in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan Resolution.
The Resolution has approved the following:
- List of hazardous products and waste prohibited for importing into Uzbekistan;
- List of plant protection products and other persistent organic pollutants prohibited for importing into Uzbekistan;
- List of hazardous products and waste, the import-export of which is regulated by the government and that is subject to mandatory environmental certification.
Importers of waste destined for processing and disposal must hold the following:
- For importers who independently fully dispose of, recycle or reuse waste - a positive conclusion of the state ecological expert conclusion on the environmental impact of the processes of waste disposal, recycling or reuse;
- Importers who do not have the opportunity to independently fully dispose of, process or reuse waste - agreement entered into with legal entities engaged in waste disposal and processing for the hand-over or sale of such waste.
This Resolution will take effect 3 months from the date of its official publication.
