In an interview to the Foreign Ministry’s Dunyo news agency Alberto Turkstra, project manager of the Diplomatic World Institute think tank shared his thoughts on the Uzbekistan-EU ties in 2024.

According to him, the European Union is actively supporting Uzbekistan’s sustainable development, with both parties exploring the ways to tap the potential of the Trans-Caspian transport corridor, which is of particular importance in the current geopolitical environment. In April 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Uzbekistan and the EU on the development of sustainable value chains in the critical raw materials.

"I am confident that 2025 will be rich in positive events in bilateral cooperation and will contribute to the further upgrading of relations between Uzbekistan and the EU," he said.

This year will see important events, including the signing of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Uzbekistan and the European Union, the first EU-Central Asia Summit with the participation of the leaders of the European Commission and the European Council, as well as the Samarkand Climate Summit.
