Starting from the new year, the excise tax on mobile communication services will cease to apply in Uzbekistan. This was announced at the yearly summary government meeting chaired by the president via videoconference, which also discussed the objectives for 2025 and supporting business.
The clause abolishing the excise tax on mobile communications was spelled out in the budget message for 2025. The budget bill was passed by the Senate on December 18.
The 15% excise tax on mobile communication services was adopted in 2019 with a simultaneous reduction to 2,000 soums of the monthly fee for using a subscriber number. In 2020, it was raised to 20%.
