During his visit to New York, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted the CEOs of major US mining companies Monday, the presidential press service said today.

The delegation included the CEO of Traxys Alan Dockter, the Vice President of the Colorado School of Mines John Bradford, the Senior Vice President of FLSmidth, Peter Flanagan, Senior Partner and Head of Central Asia at McKinsey, Yermolai Solzhenitsyn and the CEO of Go Green Partners, Mikhail Sedoy.

$1 billion worth of exploration and development projects portfolio with Traxys has been formed,, with accords and roadmap adopted for implementing technologies for production, processing, and creation of sustainable supply chains for critical minerals.

The CEO Alan Dockter, in an interview to the Uzbekistan 24 , unveiled plans to expand cooperation with Uzbekistan in the area of rare earths.

"The key issues were discussed with Mr. President that are important for the entire world, namely, the development of strategic minerals. Uzbekistan is a country very rich in rare minerals. Our company, Traxys, will take the necessary steps to further step up bilateral cooperation," he said.

Alan Dockter disclosed the company plans to open a representative office in Uzbekistan in the near future. "We have already begun implementing our own projects in your country and we believe that even greater opportunities lie ahead," he noted.

He added that a memorandum of understanding had recently been signed to develop cooperation in the field of rare earths and strategic minerals.

"Our future joint projects will cover resources such as rare earth metals, tungsten, molybdenum, and copper. All of this is essential for the next stage of global economic development. I am confident in the prospects of our partnership, and all the necessary conditions have been created for this," Dokter emphasized.

The creation of a Competence Center at the University of Geological Sciences of Uzbekistan is being developed jointly with the Colorado School of Mines, which trains specialists for the mining industry.

"Uzbekistan has enormous untapped potential for this. It boasts very large and still underexplored mineral reserves. We hope to contribute to the training of young professionals who will explore these resources and effectively utilize them for the benefit of your country," said John Bradford, Vice President of the Colorado School of Mines.

FLSmidth develops technologies and equipment for the mining and beneficiation industries. The company is actively involved in the development of the copper industry in our country.

A strategy for developing the resource base and transforming the mining industry has been developed in collaboration with McKinsey.

Go Green Partners plans to explore promising areas with a focus on minerals for green energy.

"The President's commitment to attracting Western capital and advanced technologies to the country and creating a competitive environment deserves special attention. We support competition, as it is important to create a level playing field for all industry participants. We see that this approach is supported by the President in Uzbekistan.
