Revenue from privatization totaled 1.1 trillion soums over the ten years leading up to 2020, but reached 77.6 trillion soums between 2020 and 2025, the press service of the State Assets Management Agency reported.

Under the "sell or explain" principle, the number of state-owned enterprises was cut by 61 percent between 2021 and 2025. The privatization of major and strategic assets also delivered significant results in attracting private and foreign capital into the economy. The agency cited several examples: Coca-Cola Uzbekistan was sold for $252 million, Ipoteka Bank for $324 million, and a 75.2 percent state stake in the Samarkand Automobile Plant for $80 million.

Positive momentum was also seen in land use and land privatization. Between 2022 and 2025, the volume of land plots put up for auction and sold under ownership or lease rights grew nearly fourfold. In the first half of 2026 alone, 1,800 hectares of land were sold.

The agency noted that to date, nearly 1.5 million assets have been listed for sale through the "E-auksion" electronic trading platform, of which more than 1.2 million have been sold.

Officials said that in the next phase of reforms, increasing the share of the private sector in the economy and reducing state involvement will remain a key priority. The government plans to raise the private sector's share to 85 percent by 2030 and to cut the number of state-owned enterprises by nearly sixfold.
