The Japanese corporation Sojitz will invest $200 million for the new Tashkent international airport project, the company president Kosuke Uemura told the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel.
According to him, in general, the corporation has plans to invest about $1 billion in various projects in Uzbekistan, including a hospital, an airport, wind farm and other projects.
"At the moment, we have plans to invest about $40 million in the project of the 1573 MW Syrdarya-2 CGCC, $180 million in a wind plant project, $75 million in a multifunctional international hospital in Samarkand and $200 million in the airport. The total value of all projects is estimated at $5 billion. The volume of investments that our corporation seeks to invest will reach $1 billion," Kosuke Uemura stressed.
The International Hospital in Samarkand is being implemented as one of the first public-private partnership projects in Uzbekistan and is at an early stage. In the Navoi province, a wind farm with a capacity of 1 GW has already received a site for placement, research is underway.
“In addition, we are also working with colleagues on the project of a new international airport,” added the head of Sojitz.
In July 2024, the corporation opened a representative office in Tashkent. Earlier, the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade signed a cooperation development roadmap with Sojitz for the of in the areas of energy, healthcare, infrastructure and other areas.
