Customs duties on raw materials for furniture such as fittings, accessories, paints, glue, and chipboard will be reduced in Uzbekistan, announced today Shavkat Mirziyoyev at a government meeting on the development of domestic industry, the presidential press service said.

Reportedly, the share of imported raw materials in the price of furniture stands at 50-60 percent. Manufacturers have requested a reduction in duties on raw materials such as fittings, accessories, paints, glue, and chipboard to cut the prices.

“I agree to this to the point that our national products become more competitive,” the president said.

He ordered to draft a decree to set the import duty at 1 percent for 14 types of raw materials, fittings, and accessories for a period of 3 years.

While, a centralized import of wood and wood materials for furniture will also be put in practice.
