The Cabinet issued a 67-page Cabinet of Ministers resolution on December 15 scrapping over 1,600 mandatory requirements and restrictions for entrepreneurs.

The Ministry of Justice noted that this had been the first ever major lifting of restrictions.

According to the document, requirements for certificates of conformity for 1,568 goods under the control of the veterinary service shall be eliminated.

Some excessive tourism sector non-relevant requirements and restrictions not specific to these activities, including for sole entrepreneurs, shall also be waived.

Furthermore, the $5,000 limit on the value of goods imported by sole entrepreneurs has been lifted. Requirements concerning letting houses/apartments to tourists for up to 30 days, as well as certain regulations related to the production of wooden furniture, have also been lifted.

The liftings are expected to reduce bureaucratic barriers in interactions between businesses and government bodies and reduction in entrepreneurs' costs by saving time and resources.

To date, the Unified Electronic Register of Mandatory Requirements for Entrepreneurs includes over 36,000 requirements. The Ministry of Justice announced that it would continue reviewing regulations with the aim of further reducing excessive restrictions.
