President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with senior executives of some major US companies in New York on Tuesday, including the chair of the Uzbek–American Chamber of Commerce, Carolyn Lamm, President of GE for CIS, James Ronald Pollett, President and Executive Director of Honeywell Performance Materials and Technologies, Rajeev Gautam, Vice President of CNH Industrial, Steven Nadherny and , President of John Deere, James Field.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the trade, economic and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States has been steadily developing and that the Chamber has become an important mechanism for supporting and implementing joint projects.

The sides reportedly discussed reform efforts undertaken by the government of Uzbekistan with respect to foreign exchange policy and improving investment climate. The sides touched upon the ways to expand cooperation with US companies, in particular participation of US companies in agriculture, oil and gas, power projects.

It was talked about, elimination of obstacles in the sphere of trade and improvement of business environment and investment climate.

The President proposed to the GE for CIS chief to implement a program of technical renovation, modernization and development of Uzbekistan's gas transportation system for 2018-2025, and discussed issues of construction of hydroelectric power stations, launch manufacturing of modern medical equipment and lighting devices in Uzbekistan were discussed.

The head of CNH Industrial was requested to consider launching in Uzbekistan of manufacturing of harvesting, meliorative and road-building equipment, as well as agricultural machinery, working on gas.

Uzbekistan is planning to raise ties with John Deere to a new level, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said. It is planned to organize the production of tractors and special equipment used in fruit and vegetable growing and viticulture, localization of their components and opening of a specialized training center.

As reported earlier, the Uzbekistan-American Business Forum is scheduled to take place today. Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the Business Forum will be a great platform to further boost the ties between the businesses of the two countries, discuss promising projects and to sign new deals.
