Uzbekistan will host the World Chess Olympiad 2026. The decision was made at the General Assembly of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) in the Indian city of Chennai on Monday. This was announced by the Chairman of the Chess Federation of Uzbekistan Alisher Sadullayev.
India and Romania also bid for the right to host the competition, but the majority of votes were cast for Uzbekistan, which will host this tournament for the first time.
In 2024, the World Chess Olympiad will be held in Budapest (Hungary).
